Now, there are other good schools in other states and different parts of the country. Check your local universities or check some of the other pages on this website.

The main thing is to get started.

In fact, here's a little tip:

It maybe a good idea to take some classes locally first before you jump into one of the big boys. You will:

  • Make sure that it is something you want to pursue
  • Get some experience. Some of these places are hard to get into

Good luck and have fun. It can be a great, rewarding business to be a part of.

I agree. Go local first and learn all that you can. Sometimes it is better to be a big fish in a small pond to get your feet wet. After you get a little experience behind the camera, then move on to Los Angeles or New York

If you don't live in one of these high performing arts college areas, check your local school. Most likely they have a film program of some sort and it will be a lot easier to get into than the ones in New York

The best film schools in the world are in Los angeles or New York. If you are serious and you can get into one of them, go. But don't think that you need it. There are many ways to make a film these days

It doesn't matter, really. Cary Grant never went to film school. He join a comedy troupe. The troupe enabled him to learn many skills like pantomime and acrobatics. Not really acting is it

as long as you are getting some practice and some good acting class time, either one is good. 3 months is a little short if you are going to be taking filmmaking serious

Is it better to go to a 4 years college to learn film maker or take one of these workshops for 3 months?
