Acting Film Schools In Los Angeles

This where it's at: LA LA land. If you want to get into the movie industry, Los Angeles definitely has the some of the most respected film schools in the nation. New York is obviously right there as far as prestige when it comes to the entertainment industry and other areas like Michigan, Vancouver, New Mexico, and Louisiana are starting to lure film companies due to major tax breaks, but Los Angeles will always be the mecca.

Here are a few of the film schools in Los Angeles you would definitely want to consider:

Los Angeles Film School
- Classes are taught by industry professionals. They offer an Associates degree in film, game production, and computer animation. They are located in the heart of Hollywood for those of you that want to be in the heart of the tornado.

AFI - The American Film Institute -It was founded in 1967 as a national arts organization to train filmmakers. Possibly one of the best programs you can be involved with. Definitely worth checking out.

USC Film School
- Take one look at their alumni list and you will see that USC is the real deal. Now, it is a regular university and can be expensive, so it won't suit everybody, but if you want to get into film and be taught be some of the best this is a great start.

The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute
- During a 24-week period students learn to conceive, write, shoot and edit a film under the supervision of an instructor and other highly qualified faculty.

UCLA Film School - Another great school with a massive list of alumni, UCLA has a top notch film program with world class instructors.

Hollywood Film Acting Academy
- They offer classes ranging from a 2 days for $295, up to 6 months for $9000.

**Tip/Warning**

The above mentioned film schools are the real deal. They are some of the most respected film schools in the country. That being said, when you go to do more research you are going to come across 100's of other so called film schools. Some are going to be legit, but some are going to be a bit of a scam. Hollywood is full of scam artist preying on the novice or the person 'just off the bus.' Don't get me wrong, you are going to run into some great people along the way, but just know that these people are out there.

Do your due diligence. Ask around. Try to meet other people int the industry and get some recommendations if you are not going to stick to the schools above. Trust me, you could end up wasting 1000's of dollars.

Remember: if it looks too good to be true, especially in Hollywood, it most probably is. I don't say this to scare you, just as a reminder to pay attention to where you are sticking your hard earned money.
